So far, country as a whole, I think Georgia, which sort of plays out like a highlights reel for the rest of Europe “come on in, here’s a taste of what you have to look forward to!” Food, wine, sights, scenery, culture and history crammed into unfeasibly little space.
Otherwise we’re down to parts of countries that I’ve visited, like Bukovinia in Romania, the area around Český ráj in Czechia or the Eifel between Germany and Belgium (which are all kind of alike, but that’s my particular taste), and tied up with particular memories that add colour and flavour to what would otherwise be just terrain.

I lived in Norway for a few months and that was definitely my favourite place. I loved the snow, the nature and the northern lights. Scotland is pretty amazing, too.

I still love my home country, South Africa, more than any place I have been! In South Africa, we have mountains, beaches, incredible wildlife, and so many amazing cultures and languages! I also love Namibia because of its deserts, and how you can get into very remote areas to get into nature, view wildlife and see the most stars I have ever seen!

My favourite so far is probably Kenya. I went there a over Christmas a few years ago and was lucky enough to be able to go on safari. Seeing the wild animals in their own surroundings was amazing. Never seen so many giraffes! It was also quite strange to spend Christmas somewhere warm. I also really like the US and hoping to go back there next year.

Outside of the UK, my favourite was India – I spent 1 month there during my PhD and it was an eye-opening experience (both from scientific and social perspectives). I would recommend anyone to visit India if the opportunity arose!
