it depends how you define scientist! I’ve been interested in science since primary school, and picked GCSEs, A-levels, and degrees according to that interest. I’ve been working as a researcher on-and-off for ~12 years so far and plan to continue doing so for a long while yet!

I’ve had a job in science for three and a half months, but I hope to be a scientist forever!

I started my research career during the final months of my undergraduate, so that was 2011. That makes it 10 years now! I have been an independent researcher (academic) for almost 2 years since I moved to the UK.

I’ve been curious since primary school but been actively studying science subjects since high school (I studied chemistry, biology and physics!). If I count from the start of high school = 21 years.

If we say being a scientist started at university then it would be 5 years! My degree was in biology and I am now a PhD student doing research in biology and doing more science

I think we are all scientists since the day we were born. You cannot imagine how much science you put into action in your everyday life!

It is just that some of us decide to do it as a profession too.

In my case, this goes for 10 years now.

It depends when you count from! I’ve been in my job for 3 years now but also spent 4 years before that doing my degree so I could be considered a scientist since then!
